Welcome to the FINDON surname family history web pages

The Findon surname is relatively uncommon.
Based on the 2002 Electoral Register there are less than 330 people in the UK using the surname.

So could this mean all Findons share some common ancestor(s) ?

The purpose of the Findon One Name Study is to research and document all occurrences, worldwide, of the Findon name and to create and link the various family ancestral trees.

In the UK, the Guild of One Name Studies provides a centre for the registration of family names and a forum for researchers to develop their research.

If you are relatively new to family history research and would like to know more then the BBC Family History website http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/familyhistory provides an excellent introduction and list of resources.

However, for those of you who have watched the BBC ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ programmes, the discovery of ancestral information is not usually quite as quick and easy as the programmes have made it appear.

Despite being very time consuming, collecting the pieces of the Findon jigsaw and gradually putting them together is very rewarding.

Pursuit of this goal has and still does require the collection of all the information on the family ancestors that can be found.

So please join in.
It is quite possible that you may have the missing link that allows yet another branch to be joined to the Findon tree.
